I rise to acknowledge the 70th anniversary of the Campbelltown Airds Historical Society.
Since 1947 they have played a key role in preserving the rich and vibrant history of the Macarthur region. As one of the oldest historical societies in Australia, they actively engage members of the community in our local history through tours, publications and actively advocating for the preservation of historic sites.
I recently had the privilege of attending the 70th Anniversary celebrations of the society with my colleagues Dr Michael Freelander MP and Councillor Meg Oates. I congratulate the Societies President Mr John White and Mr Christopher Thomas who is the nephew of the founding President, Dr Ivor Thomas, for their efforts in organising this event.
I celebrate 70 years of the Campbelltown and Airds Historical Society and congratulate all members of the society for their involvement and effort in preserving the rich history of our great region.
