COVID-19 has impacted everyone and everything including local charities like the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur.
The charity is one of the great success stories in terms of what it has been able to achieve for the entire Macarthur region.
Founded by former Campbelltown Councillor, the late-Fred Borg OAM, in 2005, the aim was simple – raise funds to purchase equipment and provide services for cancer centres in the Macarthur region.
It has been a highly successful mission with more than $4.6 million raised from fund raising events to date.
That amount of funding has been achieved through holding the same events every year – the launch; golf day; Fred's Push by Paul Nunnari; Ladies Day; and of course, the pinnacle event, the 24 Hour Walk around Campbelltown Sports Stadium's athletics track.
This year all those events have had to be cancelled due to the pandemic however a fund raising raffle will be held.
The equipment and services that have been provided by the charity due to the funds raised over the past 15 years have made an incredible difference to many lives.
On behalf of our region, thank you to the entire 24 Hour Fight team.
