Campbelltown MP Greg Warren has demanded the state government acknowledge Campbelltown for the regional hub that it is and establish a Service NSW Centre in Campbelltown.
In 2015, RMS offices in Campbelltown, Narellan and Ingleburn were closed and a Service NSW Centre in Gregory Hills opened instead.
The decision has caused mass chaos and inconvenience for Campbelltown residents.
A bus service from Campbelltown to Gregory Hills wasn’t even established until almost four years after the Gregory Hills Service Centre opened.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicle inspections are still occurring at the site of the old Campbelltown RMS office.
Mr Warren gave Minister for Customer Service, Victor Dominello a letter outlining the case for a Service NSW Centre in Campbelltown.
In February the government announced it would establish 10 new Service NSW Centres – however, none of those were located in Campbelltown.
Quotes attributed to Shadow Minister for Local Government, Veterans and Western Sydney and the Member for Campbelltown, Greg Warren:
“The decision to close the Campbelltown RMS office was outrageous and absurd.
“Campbelltown is the major hub of the Macarthur region – it’s ridiculous that there is not a Service NSW Centre located in Campbelltown.
“I have raised the issue with the Minister – in fact, I personally hand delivered him the letter.
“I hope for every Campbelltown residents’ sake that he listens to our pleas and establishes a Service NSW Centre right here in Campbelltown.”
