NSW Labor will force the Berejiklian-Barilaro Government to hand over all details regarding properties that were fully or partially acquired as part of the Western Sydney Airport and aerortropolis project.
The Shadow Minister for Western Sydney, Greg Warren submitted a Government Information Public Access (GIPA) request in September requesting the prices and addresses of all properties purchased by Transport for NSW as part of the projects.
However, the Department refused to provide addresses – citing privacy concerns.
Last night the Opposition Whip in the Legislative Council, Mark Buttigieg introduced a Standing Order 52 – which passed the house – demanding the government provide those details.
The SO52 comes days after it was revealed the same Department paid three times as much as the Valuer-General’s estimate for contaminated land in Camellia.
It was also revealed in the September that the Federal Liberal-National Government bought a $3 million property for $30 million as part of the Western Sydney Airport development.
Mr Warren said the Liberals and Nationals history of dodgy deals in Western Sydney was an enormous concern.
“NSW taxpayers deserve to know that due process was followed regarding property acquisitions for the Western Sydney Airport project.
“The debacle in Camellia may be just the tip of the iceberg regarding this Government’s dodgy deals in Western Sydney.”
Mr Buttigieg said the government had nowhere to hide: “They’ve ducked and dodged handing this information over for far too long,” Mr Buttigieg said.
“The people of NSW need to have faith and trust in their elected representatives. That’s becoming harder by the day with this Government.”
